Absences
It is important that a family member communicates with the school to report student absences. This helps keep us informed, as well as helps to ensure that our documentation is accurate and timely. If a student is absent for any reason, please call the main office at or e-mail the school. Please be sure to include the following information: child’s full name, grade, teacher’s name and the reason for the absence.
In addition:
-
If your child or anyone in your family has tested positive for COVID-19, you must inform the school IMMEDIATELY. Please email attendance@ps290.org AND ndolinsky@ps290.org.
-
If your child has chicken pox, scarlet fever, fifth disease or any vaccine-preventable disease, you should inform the school.
-
If your child is out sick for 3 days or more, you should obtain a letter of explanation from your doctor.
-
If your child is traveling out of town, please include copies of his/her itinerary, plane tickets, etc. with your absence notification.
-
Please send in all doctor's notes and documentation to your child's teacher or email to attendance@ps290.org.

Absences from after school program
-
If your child is present at school and signed up for PS290's After School Program, but you choose to pick up your child at dismissal rather than having them stay, please be sure to notify your child's classroom teacher and contact the company that is offering your child's class to make them aware of this change.
